What is the scope of the APP Reimbursement?
- Last updated on October 15, 2024 at 9:32 AM
A Reimbursable APP scam payment is an FPS or CHAPS APP scam payment where the Consumer Standard of Caution Exception does not apply, the victim is not party to the fraud or claiming fraudulently or dishonestly to have been defrauded, and the claim was made within the time limit set out in the reimbursement rules.
Subject to the eligibility criteria set out in the FPS reimbursement rules and the CHAPS app scam rules, the reimbursement requirement applies to all Reimbursable APP scam payments executed from 7 October 2024 by Faster Payments or CHAPS in the UK.
If you report details of a Reimbursable APP scam payment claim to us at Monese, as an
Agent of EPS, unless an exclusion applies, EPS is responsible for paying the Reimbursable Amount to you within five (5) business days of this report, unless the ‘stop the clock’ provision is applied to gather more information about the claim.
The APP scam claim must specify at least one APP scam payment. You should report the details of the APP scam claim to us as quickly as possible, and within a maximum of thirteen (13) months of the APP scam payment(s) being made.
APP payments in scope of the changes include:
• Payments made through online and mobile banking, at your branch or by telephone banking
• Payments made within the UK (you’re not covered for a payment sent overseas)
• Payments made using Faster Payments
• Payments using CHAPS
• Payments from personal accounts if they’re not being used for trade or business
• Payments made by individuals, micro-enterprises and certain charities
