Are there any limits and exclusions?

Yes, under the following limits and exclusions, reimbursement won’t be provided where: 

  • You, as the consumer, are deemed to be party to the scam

  • You submit your claim to Monese more than 13 months after the last scam payment 

  • The payments you’re claiming for all occurred before 7 October 2024

  • The payment(s) was not executed through either the FPS or CHAPS payment systems (e.g. payments by cheque or cash are not covered)

  • The payment was not from an account operated in the UK

  • The payment was sent to an account held in the customer’s name

  • The payment was sent to an account outside of the UK

  • The payment(s) in question relate to a private civil dispute

  • The payment(s) in question were made by the victim for an unlawful purpose

  • The payment(s) were not authorised by the victim

  • The Consumer Standard of Caution exception applies (see below for more)

  • You, as the payer, are not a consumer (i.e. an individual, micro-enterprise or small charity)
