The SOFORT service is operated by Sofort GmbH, which is part of Klarna Group. It allows you to add money to your Monese account from any bank accounts you have at other financial institutions, as long as they offer an online banking functionality.
With SOFORT you can trigger a money transfer from within the Monese app. When you select SOFORT as top-up method from the Monese ‘Add money’ screen and after having specified the amount you would like to transfer, you will be taken to an external screen run by SOFORT. You’ll need to identify the country and the bank where the bank account you want to take the money on is located - this works via that bank’s BIC, BLZ or simply its name.
The next step takes you to the login area on a secure payment page where you’ll need to log-in by using your online banking credentials. SOFORT will then encrypt your information and communicates it to your bank. To confirm the bank transfer you will then add a TAN that your bank has provided to you, e.g. a mobile TAN. For security reasons any TAN can only be used once.
SOFORT then notifies Monese of the transaction and you will see a screen confirming that the money was received in your Monese account. The transaction will show as pending and may take up to three working days for the funds to become available to spend.
SOFORT will send out an additional email to you notifying you of the transaction. At present, you will not be able to opt out of this email.
